When shopping for an amplified telephone, it is important to know how much amplification you need in order to comfortably and effectively communicate on the telephone. To help you choose the phone that best fits your needs, we have developed this color scale indicating the amplification range of each telephone and for whom each phone is recommended for.

MILD HEARING LOSS:
  • Optimal Amplification Range: 15dB - 30dB
  • Symptoms: Voice on the other end is a little muffled, miss a
few words during the conversation but you can manage to
get through it, strain to hear the words being spoken on the
    other end.

MODERATE HEARING LOSS:
  • Optimal Amplification Range: 30dB - 45dB
  • Symptoms: Voice on the other end is frequently muffled or
unclear, ask person to repeat what they just said frequently

SEVERE HEARING LOSS:
  • Optimal Amplification Range: 45dB and greater
  • Symptoms: Frequently can not hear people speaking at all
during conversation, do not use or answer phone because it
    is too difficult to communicate
